ABOUT US

THE ACFC IS THE ANTHEM OF THE INDUSTRY.

Specifically designed as a call to action for collaboration within the
Australasian textile and apparel industry.

The ACFC, Global Leaders

THE MOTIVATION TO ESTABLISH Australia’s only annual circular fashion conference came from the mounting body of research pointing to the negative environmental impacts caused by the fashion industry.
The evolution of the conference has moved from advocacy and awareness towards consumer change management. The context of 2018 needed to ground the industry in the severity and scale of fashion un-sustainability in its current form.
By 2019, sustainability was top-of-mind for many, which was reflected in the conference structure. Our aims were to foster connections between industries, showing the benefits of working collaboratively.
In 2021, our theme ‘The Future of Industry is Now’ outlines how to keep the fashion industry viable in a volatile world of consumer demand and climate action.

Our Founder

The number one must have in business today is sustainability.
Following two successful annual events and doubling attendance year-on-year – in 2021 The Australian Circular Fashion Conference is set to propel industry’s action in sustainable and economical business practice.
Having worked within industry for over a decade as a textile designer, and looking to influence her past fashion employer to implement a sustainability department she had written for them, it was in 2017 Camille Reed (ACFC Founder) began formulating game-changing partnerships with National and International circular economy experts, in order to guide Australia’s fashion industry toward closing the loop.
To make a significant sustainable impact, and unlock imperative resources for industry to grow and adapt, the ACFC was born. For the first time, the fashion sector could collaborate to create meaningful and productive B2B relationships; from local partners through to every stakeholder in the external supply chain.

Australasian Circular Textile Association

In 2018, ACTA was established. ACTA recognises the enormity
of transitioning from take-make-waste to closed loop.
During the 2018 ACFC event, Camille announced an industry body would be formed as a call to arms for the apparel, charity, industrial and repurposing sectors to work together to build practical solutions to improve resource efficiency for textiles.
We are accelerating the apparel and textile industry’s transition towards a circular economy, supported upon economic viability, longevity and environmental sustainability.
ACTA connects and engages with all verticals within the textiles industries value chain, and also their supply chains. We aggregate the necessary resources to achieve sustainable best-practice and circularity.
Our vision is for a ‘closed loop’ industry across apparel and textiles, where sustainable best-practices are incorporated into standard business functionality, where a way of life emissions and waste are reduced to near-zero.
